Iran Press/ Iran news: Mahallat is the center of producing marble in Iran. There are 70 active stone mines in Malahat, whose mineral reserve is about 30 million tons, with the capacity of annually harvesting 2 million tons.
More than 2 percent of construction stone and 8 percent of travertine stone in the world are produced in Mahallat, with 280 processing units working in the Iranian stone production pole capable of yielding 18 million square meters of stone.
Miners and stone producers from 22 provinces of Iran are present at the 15th International Exhibition of Iranian Stone, and some foreign ambassadors to Iran, businessmen, and business delegations visit the exhibition.
Also, the latest industrial achievements and machinery in Iran's stone sector have been presented at the exhibition.
For instance, the Iranian Hepco Company showcased the 75-ton shovel it has produced to be used in stone mines.
Iran's stone exhibition is the fifth largest exhibition in the world after Brazil, India, Turkey, and China.
The event began on Tuesday, October 10, and is underway until October 13 at Iran's permanent fairground for stones.
Attending the inauguration ceremony of the expo in the Mahallat city of Arak in Markazi province, the Ambassador of the Philippines to Tehran told Iran Press that his country could cooperate with Arak in the construction area.
Roberto G. Manalo said his main goal of the trip to Arak was to visit the exhibition because the Philippines is rapidly going through various stages of economic and industrial growth and needs infrastructure and technology.
He said the Iranian stone exhibition showed that there are good capacities in Iran and that the existing capabilities can supply the industrial infrastructure of the Philippines.
