US Police in riot gear stormed a rally attacking and removing hundreds of protesters by force.

Iran PressAmerica: US protesters set up tents at Lafayette Square near the White House.

Anti-racism protesters had previously tried to topple the 19th-century statue of US President Andrew Jackson, who happened to be a slave owner and plantation owner.

Reacting to the rally, US President Donald Trump said he would not allow protesters to form an "autonomous region" in Washington and would use force in response.

In recent days, protesters have toppled a number of statues related to famous figures and politicians linked to the slave trade in the United States.

Various American cities, especially Minneapolis, have been the scene of anti-racism protests, denouncing police brutality for at least a month now.

The death of George Floyd, 46, a black man who died on 25 May after he was pinned down by a white Minnesota police officer, has sparked outrage and protests in Minneapolis, as well as many other US cities, and indeed throughout the world and highlighted problems which have blighted America for a very long time; problems such as human rights violations, police brutality and racism especially against African Americans.

Thousands have been injured in these anti-racism protests throughout the United States.
