Tehran (IP) - Iran's Health Ministry Spokeswoman announced that so far, nearly 178,000 people in the country have been infected with the coronavirus, and more than 140,000 of total infected people have recovered.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking about the latest data on the coronavirus in the country and its death toll on Wednesday, Sima Sadat Lari said: "According to the definitive laboratory findings and from yesterday to June 10 in the country, 2,011 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed and the number of patients with this disease reached to 177,938."

811 of new patients were hospitalized, she added.

Fortunately, 140,590 patients have recovered and have been discharged so far, Lari said.

The Spokeswoman stated: "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 81 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives, bringing the total deaths to 8,506."

So far, around 1,151,032 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted in the country, the Health Ministry spokeswoman said.

According to the spokeswoman, Khuzestan Province is still in a critical situation and the situation of 6 other provinces is alarming. 

Sima Sadat Lari was appointed as the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health on Tuesday. She replaced Kianoosh Jahanpour, a former spokesman for the Ministry.
