Iranian President Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Presidential Office Chief of Staff said the US Republicans must find a way to remedy racism and injustice in their country instead of planing for sanctions against Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News: Mahmoud Vaezi made the remark on Tuesday on his Twitter account in response to the US Congress's majority vote to propose a new sanction package on Iran.

US media sources reported on Wednesday the 'Republican Study Committee' to propose a package of sanctions against Iran, Russia, and China.

"Instead of drafting a comprehensive sanctions plan against the Iranian people, the Republicans of the US Congress had better consider a plan to eliminate injustice and structural racism in the United States and create peace and security for the American people," Vaezi tweeted.

Streets in countless cities and towns across America filled with demonstrators again on Sunday as largely peaceful protests over systemic racism and police brutality, sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, headed towards the third week.

Across the country, the case is raising questions about the use of excessive force by police. Democrats unveiled a sweeping bill aimed at reforming law enforcement, but in Minneapolis and elsewhere, there have been calls to defund police departments.
