West Azerbaijan (IP)- Two vice presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran visited Lake Urmia in the province of West Azerbaijan, northwestern Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Vice President and Head of Plan and Budget Organization, Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, and Issa Kalantari, Vice President and Head of the Environment Organization, visited Lake Urmia on Monday evening and took a boat tour.

On the sideline of the visit, the head of Plan and Budget Organization (PBO) Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, referring to the current situation of Lake Urmia, said, "The government has been successful in reviving Lake Urmia."

Head of the Department of Environment Isa Kalantari, also said, "All engineering and hard work to restore Lake Urmia in the current government will be completed."

The water of Kani Sib Dam, Urmia and Tabriz refineries, and satellite dams pour into Urmia Lake and it is planned to increase the entrance to the lake by about one billion cubic meters annually.

Currently, there are more than 5 billion cubic meters of water in Lake Urmia, and this amount is expected to reach about 15 billion cubic meters in the next 7 years.
