Tehran (IP) - Condemning the increase in EU and US sanctions against the Syrian people, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi called them an illegal act against human principles.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi described the sanctions as inhumane, and directly endangering human rights.

Mousavi noted, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has declared its support for the government and people of Syria and calls for the lifting of all anti-human sanctions against this country so that in addition to meeting their basic needs, they are able to rebuild the damage caused by Western-backed terrorists' attacks on the country's infrastructure with the help of the international community."

In an inhumane act after the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011, the United States imposed sanctions on the country's petrochemical industry.
