Coronavirus antibodies to be produced in Iran

Tehran (IP) - With the efforts of Iranian researchers, preparations have been made for the production of specific immunoglobulin (antibodies) of the coronavirus in the country.

Iran PressIran News: Antibody is a protective protein produced by the immune system in response to the presence of an external substance.

The Head of Iran's Plasma-Based Treatment Plan Hassan Abolghasemi said on Sunday: "The idea of Iranian experts is to make such antibodies, which is in the final stages."

Hassan Abolghasemi added the product, that is waiting to be approved by the Ministry of Health, has advantages of plasma purification and easy maintenance.

"Plasma should be stored at a temperature below minus 20 degrees and in special bags, but in this case, samples can also be stored in pharmacies," he said.

COVID-19 has infected more than 2.25 million people and killed at least 158,000 worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Iran's Ministry of Health Spokesman announced that so far more than 55,987 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease and reported a decrease in daily death toll for the 6th consecutive days with 73 deaths.
