Tehran (IP) -Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif on his latest conversations on the latest development in Afghanistan had a telephone conversation with India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Monday evening.

Iran PressIran News: Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar had a telephone conversation this evening (Monday).

The two sides discussed the latest political developments in Afghanistan, especially the peace process in this country, the latest situation of the Corona outbreak in the region and the world and the ways to deal with this crisis, as well as illegal and unilateral US sanctions against Iran.

Also in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan, as well as the recent developments in Yemen and the need for a lasting ceasefire in the country.

In another telephone conversation with his Turkish and Qatari counterparts this morning, Iranian Foreign Minister also discussed the latest developments in the political crisis in Afghanistan, especially the peace process in the country.

Iran's Zarif calls for unity among Afghan different groups

Yesterday afternoon, Zarif spoke over telephone with Afghan Foreign Ministry Chief Hanif Atmar.

In this conversation, the Foreign Minister stressed the need for unity among the various groups in Afghanistan, the establishment of peace and stability in the country, as well as the expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Iran's FM voices support to Afghanistan peace process

Mohammad Javad Zarif also held separate telephone conversations with Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday last week to discuss issues of mutual interest, as well as the latest political situation in Afghanistan and the disputes in the country after the recent presidential election.

The Chief Executive's office was established in 2014 in a power-sharing agreement negotiated to solve an election crisis involving Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah. Ghani became president, and Abdullah became chief executive.

In the recent election, Ghani was named the winner by the Independent Election Commission, but Abdullah claimed victory, and both men held inauguration ceremonies on Monday.

However, the international community has publicly acknowledged Ghani's inauguration and called for unity between the two.
