Iran’s Secretary of National Task force for Combating Corona

Tehran (IP) - Iran’s Secretary of National Taskforce for Combating Corona announced that more than 61 million people have been screened in the campaign.

Iran PressIran News: Hamid Reza Jamshidi called COVID-19 screening as an unprecedented measure in the world, reiterating that other countries have done well in environmental health and social distancing, but checking the status of individuals separately has only been done in Iran.

Jamshidi pointed to the decline in hospital visits by implementing a screening plan in Iran, noting that 17,000 patients have been identified and taken to the hospital, 5,000 of which have been hospitalized.

Iran’s top health official emphasized that through the implementation of the screening and outreach program, people's psychological distress from COVID-19 had decreased noting 40,000 beds have been dedicated to patients diagnosed with COVID-19, most of which are currently empty.

Jamshidi also referred to the activity of 130,000 healthcare staff in Iran to provide outpatient and inpatient treatment services reiterating 82 laboratories are currently operating in the country and ambulatory patients are also being tested.

According to the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, 38,309 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus in the country so far, more than 2,000 have died and at least 12,000 have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. 207
