4.3 Richter earthquake shakes southwestern Khuzestan province

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale shook the city of Guriyeh, in southwestern Khuzestan Province, on Friday at 15:13 hours local time.

Iran Press/Iran news: According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the earthquake occurred at 15:13 hours local time (11:43 GMT) and at the depth of 10 km underground.

No report has so far been released on the likely casualties or damages to the properties.

According to the report earthquake was felt in some part of Iraq and Kuwait.

All rescue and emergency teams are now on alert at the accident site.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.

This week also a 4.5 Richter earthquake jolted Shushtar in Khuzestan.
