Greece's top diplomat called for maintaining the JCPOA agreement and its positive consequences, including the lifting of US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran Press/Europe: The Director-General of the International Organization for Foreign Affairs of Greece, Andreas Papadakis, in the meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmad Naderi, also praised the country's actions against the Coronavirus.

 

Describing the latest developments in Iran, the Iranian official called the unilateral and illegal US sanctions major obstacle in preventing the Iranian people and the government from accessing health facilities and equipment to combat corona, terming them a crime against humanity and a threat to international health, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Athens announced according to Iran Press

The Iranian ambassador to Athens called for the condemnation of US cruel sanctions by all countries in the world, including Greek officials.

Referring to the spread of the Coronavirus in many countries, Papadakis stated: "The spread of the Coronavirus is a global problem and tackling this phenomenon requires international cooperation."

The new virus, that causes a respiratory disease known as COVID-19, emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province late last year.

 Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said that 5,389 people have recovered in total from the Coronavirus.

It has swept into at least 165 countries, infected more than 198,513 and killed at least 7,988 people worldwide.
