Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemns attack on al-Taji military base

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry responded in a statement condemned the recent attack on al-Taji military base in Baghdad.

Iran PressMiddle East: In the statement, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemned any security violation targeting the interests of the friendly countries or their positions in the Iraqi territories.  

“These actions include attacks on the al-Taji base, which targeted anti-ISIS allies and those training Iraqi forces,” the statement said.

At the end of the statement, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry stressed investigating to identify the perpetrators of the attack on the al-Taji military base.

The base was attacked on Wednesday 11 March. It is home to US, British and other international coalition forces known as the Anti-ISIS Coalition. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack in which two US and one British soldier were killed and four others were wounded.

In response, the United States launched airstrikes against multiple locations of Iraqi  Hashd Al-Shaabi forces, among the locations hit by was a position in Najaf and three other places south of the capital Baghdad.
