Rouhani: Forestation around Tehran 16.5 fold since Islamic Revolution

Tehran (IP) - The Iranian President emphasized that tree planting and conservation are important, adding that the number of forest trees around Tehran has increased by 16.5 times since the beginning of the revolution.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday 4 March in a ceremony to launch the project of 1290 hectares of green belt around the city of Tehran said that it is important for us to plant trees and conserve resources. Today around Tehran we see that 1290 hectares are planted as a week of planting and nature, which is very promising.

Rouhani said that the statistics provided by the municipality of Tehran has announced that the number of trees in forests around Tehran has increased by 16.5 times since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution of Iran is significant.

He added, "Of course, our population has increased and pollution has increased over the past. So forests are a community respiratory tract with which a city can breathe."
