President Rouhani officially inaugurates the southern portion of line 6 of Tehran Underground (Metro) on Sunday morning, opening the longest line in the Tehran Underground System.

Iran Press/Iran news: President Rouhani officially inaugurated 9 kilometers of the southern portion of line 6 of Tehran Underground (Metro).

According to an Iran Press report, Line 6 of Tehran Underground, once completed, will be 32 kilometers long, with 27 stops (stations), starting from Dowlatabad, near Shahr-e-Rey in south Tehran and ending in Sulqan district of Northwest Tehran.

He said, “Tehran should be surrounded by forests,” continuing “Issuing permits for construction on riverbeds exchanging people’s lives for dirty money”.

A further 6 kilometers of railway line will be added to the southern portion of line 6 of Tehran Underground, extending it further south from Dowlatabad to the shrine of Hazrat Abdol Azim Hassani PBUH in Shahr-e-Rey.

The President also went on to say, “If it were not for Dez, Karkheh, Karoon, and Shahid Abbaspour dams, the conditions in Khuzestan Province would be different today”.

“To judge about developmental projects and plans, we need to have a long-term outlook,” said Rouhani.

He also added, “When we destroy the path of the flood, it will come with destructions; we need to recognize the rights of the nature”.

The President said, “Every person using the Metro saves half a liter fuel,” adding, “Preventing the pace of consumption, corruption, and smuggling of fuel is a national necessity”.

Stating that some talks are not good for the Revolution, Rouhani said, “Major developmental projects, from dams and power plants to forestation and metro, are national honors”.

“One of the messages of earthquakes and floods is changing and amending worn-out urban neighborhoods,” he said.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also went on to say, “We are ready to provide those working in the housing sector with public lands”.

Tehran's newest Metro line is well-equipped, with all stations being fitted with the latest computer-controlled communications, signaling, and safety equipment, as well as a modern ventilation system, escalators, fire extinguishing, and safety equipment.

A further 15 kilometers of railway line will be added to the northern section of line 6, extending it further north and west to the "Ashrafi-Isfahany Expressway."  This is expected to be completed in about 10 to 12 months time. 103/211
