Qazvin (IP) - The commander of Khatam-al Anbiya Construction Headquarters said Tehran Southern Bypass Freeway will reduce travel time as well as fuel consumption.

Iran Press/Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Saeed Mohammad Eslami said Tehran Southern Bypass Freeway runs from Abyek County in Tehran-Qazvin Freeway and is connected to Charmshahr junction in Qom-Garmsar Freeway.

"The Tehran Southern Bypass Freeway actually transports traffic from Alborz and Tehran to this bypass, and the new corridor can be used for traffic routes from west to east as well as south to northwest and northeast," he added. 

The commander of Khatam-al Anbiya Construction Headquarters highlighted that using this freeway not only will reduce travel time by approximately one and a half hours for automobiles and two hours for heavy vehicles but also about 115 million liters of fuel consumption will be decreased too.

Saeed Mohammad Eslami referred to the significant impact of the Freeway on the environment and reducing air pollution, saying: "Regarding Passive Defense, this freeway can be a good aid to relief in the case of occurring crises in Tehran and Alborz."

He further explained that the project is 70 percent funded by the Khatam-al Anbiya Construction Headquarters and 30 percent by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, noting: "About 1800 billion Tomans have been financed so far and the whole project will cost around 3 billion dollars."
