Tehran (IP) - The Embassy of Pakistan in Tehran arranged a ceremony to show solidarity with the innocent Kashmiris who are living under tough restrictions and difficult conditions in Indian controlled Kashmir.

Iran Press/Iran news: At the ceremony held on Wednesday, 5th February 2020, messages of Pakistan's President and Prime Minister were read out to an audience of predominantly Iranian scholars, academics, intellectuals, media personalities, and students. Pakistani nationals living in Iran were also present.

Pakistan's Charge d'Affaires Syed Muhammad Fawad Sher, in his speech, criticized the continued lockdown of Kashmir by Indian military forces.

He said the continued lockdown and crackdown against peaceful Kashmiris, including young people and children, by Indian forces, is an attempt to subjugate and suppress them, but widespread protests and demonstrations are a testimony to the indigenous nature of the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people.

Syed Fawad Sher thanked Iran's Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Government for supporting the cause of the Kashmiri Muslims and condemning India's recent actions in Kashmir.

Students from Urdu Department, Tehran University and Pakistan's Embassy International School & College, in their speeches, condemned the human rights violations by Indian forces against the peaceful Kashmiris.

Since 5 August 2019, Parts of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir have been under lockdown, with mobile networks, internet services, and telephone landline services being cut by authorities in India.

Indian authorities, however, claim that daytime restrictions have been lifted in 90% of the region.

India and Pakistan both hold Kashmir in parts and claim it in full. China also controls part of the contested region, but it is India and Pakistan who have fought two wars over Kashmir.
