Five projectiles have reportedly landed in the vicinity of the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq's capital on Sunday.

Iran Press/ Middle East: It was not immediately clear whether the projectiles inflicted any damage or casualties.

The rockets hit Baghdad’s heavily-fortified Green Zone, AFP said, citing security sources.

One of the sources said that five ‘Katyusha rockets’ had landed near the compound, while another put the number of projectiles at three.

Warning systems at the facility were activated and people were advised to seek shelter, footage from the scene shows.

Baghdad's Green Zone and US military bases in Iraq, including the al-Taji and al-Balad bases, have been targeted by rocket several attacks in recent days.

Following the brutal assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, and Deputy General of the Iraqi People's Mobilization Forces "Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandes" by the US terrorist government near Baghdad Airport, Iraqi parliamentarians approved a plan to deport the US forces from Iraq.

On another development, a massive demonstration flooded the streets of Iraq's capital Baghdad, with thousands voicing their anger at the US military presence there.

Early on Friday morning, throngs of protesters – men and women, young and old – began amassing at al-Hurriya Square in central Baghdad, near the city's main university. The anti-America rally dubbed the "Million-man March," was called by Moqtada al-Sadr, one of Iraq's top Shia clerics.
