Sistan and Baluchestan (IP) - The Speaker of Parliament emphasized the need to meet the urgent needs of people in flood-hit areas in Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeast of Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani arrived in Chabahar on Monday 14th January to visit flood-stricken areas, saying the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has ordered to immediately address the situation in the province.

Larijani stated that the first priority in the flooded areas of Sistan and Baluchistan province is to meet the urgent needs of the people.

At least 1,248 people trapped in the floods were rescued in some 40 towns and villages in Sistan and Baluchestan.

The unprecedented flash floods have hit 350 villages in recent days, damaging thousands of residential buildings.

The areas of Fanuj, Nikshahr, Konarak and Delgan Dashtiari in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan province have been hit by floods in recent days due to heavy rainfall.
