Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani (R) and Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis (L)

During a meeting with the Syrian Prime Minister, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani referred to the power of resistance movement after Lt. General Qasem Soleimani's martyrdom.

Iran Press/Middle East: Larijani on Monday met with Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis in Tehran, stating that by the assassinating of Lt. Gen Qasem Soleimani, the US wants to reduce the power of resistance movement in the region.

"General Soleimani's martyrdom has strengthened the resistance movement in the region. The US made a mistake because its terrorist act became a major international issue," he added.

Referring to the approval of the plan to expel US troops from Iraq, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament emphasized, "All the measures taken were slaps to the US so that its authorities notice that with Lieutenant General Soleimani's martyrdom, the path of resistance will not change."

Larijani also emphasized that Iran-Syria relations have always been strategic, and said, "Regional and military cooperation between countries in the region must be expanded to prevent Zionist's evil actions."

Imad Khamis also condoled the martyrdom of Soleimani, stating, "Syria and all sovereign states support the Islamic Republic of Iran's legal actions in self-defense."

"General Soleimani's martyrdom has strengthened the resistance and unity among the nations in the region," Khamis added.
