Tehran (IP) - UK ambassador to Iran said on Tuesday that Europe is trying to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreement and return to it, saying the agreement is now in a very difficult stage.

Iran PressIran news: On the sideline of Dialogue Forum attended by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and several other high-level officials from the neighboring countries Rob Macaire, the UK ambassador to Iran in an exclusive interview with Iran Press stated: "We are strongly trying to save the agreement, it is obviously in a very difficult stage now."

He added: "The latest announcement which has been made in Tehran is a source of concern to my country and other signatories of JCPOA (the joint comprehensive plan of action)."

The UK ambassador to Iran continued: "What we need now is to have diplomacy that will enable us to get back to the agreement and we would like to see all parties to the agreement remaining committed to and implementing the commitment they made in that agreement."

He claimed: "We on the European side have implemented the commitments we have made and we are still implementing those commitments and we would look forward to Iran to do the same thing."

Meanwhile, in the same session, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi told Iran Press that EU has said that they were considering activating a dispute resolution mechanism, or Article 36, or the trigger mechanism, and we think this would be a very wrong move and would speed up the termination of the agreement."

Iran has reduced its limitations based on the JCPOA as sanctions have returned and if the European behavior changes and Iran's interests are met, we are ready to return to the agreement, deputy FM concluded. 207/205
