Iran Press/Middle East: The mourners, at the holy shrine of Imam Ali Ebne Abi Taleb (peace be upon him), chanted slogans, shouting: "God is the greatest" and "the US is the Great Satan".
The term 'Great Satan' was originally used by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (RH) in his speech on November 5, 1979, to describe the United States as a symbol of imperialism and the sponsoring of corruption throughout the world.
Funeral procession for the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, deputy chief of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization (al-Hashed al-Sha'abi) Abu Mehdi al-Muhandis, and the other martyrs accompanying them was held on Saturday in the city of Najaf with the attendance of hundreds of thousands of mourners.
Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated in an airstrike on the Baghdad International Airport in Iraq at the order of US President, Donald Trump.
The Iraqi people have held a funeral procession for the martyred legendary Iranian General Qasem Soleimani as well as the martyred Deputy Chief of Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in the cities of Kadhimiya, and Karbala.
