Zarif discussed regional affairs after assassination of general Soleimani

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister, in separate phone calls with top regional officials, discussed regional affairs, after the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a phone conversation, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed the latest regional and international developments after the assassination of the senior Iranian military commander.

In this phone call, Lavrov expressed his condolences to the Iranian government and the Iranian people, following the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani, a prominent Iranian general who played a key role in the defeat of ISIS (also known as Daesh) terrorists in both Iraq and Syria.

In another phone call, the Iranian Foreign Minister received condolences from the chief executive officer of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah.

The latest developments in bilateral relations and the most important regional and international issues were discussed in this phone conversation.

Abdullah also expressed his condolences to the Iranian government and the Iranian people with regards to the martyrdom of General Soleimani.

In two other phone calls, Zarif also discussed regional and international developments related to the assassination of General Soleimani with his Tajik and Chinese counterparts.

Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was assassinated in an airstrike in Baghdad International Airport in Iraq at the direction of US President, Donald Trump. 101/211/207
