The former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) vowed that the Iranian nation would take severe revenge against the US for the assassination of Lieutenant- General Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC Quds Force, assassinated in the US airstrikes in the Iraqi capital Baghdad early on Friday.

Iran PressIran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council expressed his condolences to the twelfth Shia Imam, Muhammad al-Mahdi (AS); the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei; and the Iranian nation.

He went on saying, "Americans have sought to take action because of the successive failures and disasters that occurred in their own country and to keep people's minds away from their crimes."

"However, this crime will undermine Trump's reputation and the Iranian nation would take severe revenge against the US," Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council underlined.

Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC elite Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of the PMF, have been martyred in the US strike targeting their cars.

US President Donald Trump had ordered the US military to assassinate Iranian Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, the Pentagon has said in statement.205
