Firefighting groups extinguished the fire at the Arvand Khorramshahr Complex in southwestern Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Aziz Saadi, the mayor of Iran's Khorramshahr municipality, said that the fire had abated in the former Arvand Free Trade Zone Market with the efforts of firefighters coming in from further afield, including from Abadan, Khorramshahr, Mahshahr, Shadegan, and the port city of Bandar Imam.

Zain al-Abedine Mousavi, the special governor of Abadan, also confirmed that the fire was now under control and did not pose a threat to residential homes around the market, Iran Press reported.

More than ten firefighting groups from five cities in Khuzestan province, including Abadan and Khorramshahr, worked to contain the fire and conduct fire fighting. Eyewitnesses believe the cause of the accident was an electrical fault or power outage at the far end of the market.

Arvand Free Trade Zone, which is known as Kenzalmal Market, is located on the road from Abadan to Khorramshahr, with more than 250 commercial booths providing sailors with various privileges including tax exemptions on products.
