The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif has said deepening ties with neighbouring countries is Tehran's top foreign policy priority.

Iran Press/Iran news: "Pleased to be in Turkey, attending 24th ministerial meeting of the ECO," Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday in a tweet from Antalya Turkey, where he is attending the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

"In keeping with Iran’s foreign policy that posits our neighbors should always come first, regional cooperation remains a priority. We hope this cooperation can be welcomed by neighbors to our south, too," he added according to Iran Press.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that his country is committed to the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), despite the hardship of sanctions.

"Notwithstanding the hardship Iranian people are experiencing in the time of blatant and cruel unilateral coercive measures and economic terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Iran continues its commitment to ECO and its programs and projects," Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday in an address to the meeting.  101/211
