Larijani stresses on boosting ties with Republic of Azerbaijan

Iran's parliament speaker Ali Larijani has called for the expansion of parliamentary relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking in a meeting with Azeri ambassador to Tehran Bunyad Hassanov, Larijani said the Iranian parliament sees no obstacles on the way of expanding parliamentary cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

"Iranian officials and people have always been interested in upgrading relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan," Majlis speaker added.

He underscored that bilateral relations should be strengthened in all areas between Tehran and Baku.

"In the current circumstances, conditions are right for strengthening economic, political, cultural and social cooperation and relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, so the authorities of both countries should intensify their efforts to activate these potentials, Larijani added.

The top Iranian legislator further stressed the need to develop economic and industrial relations between the two sides, stressing the need for increased bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture, urban development and transport.

For his part, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Tehran described Iran-Azerbaijan ties as historic and said Baku favours the development of relations between the two countries.

"Fortunately, Tehran-Baku relations are currently improving in different fields including transportation, railway, trade exchange, urban development, agricultural industries, customs and tourism," Hassanov said. 207/211
