Mayor of Tehran meets Iraqi official

Tehran's Mayor 'Pirouz Hanachi' said that MoU between Tehran and Baghdad Municipalities and also involving the Iraqi Housing and Reconstruction Ministry will be followed up just after the blessed month of Ramadan in Tehran.

Iran Press/Middle East: Hanachi who is in Baghdad, capital city of Iraq in an interview with IRNA, described his negotiations with Iraqi officials as 'successful' and said: "Preliminary negotiations have taken place with Baghdad Mayor Zekra Alwach, Iraq Housing and Reconstruction Minister Bangin Rekani and a Baghdad province council member on developing cooperation."

Tehran's Mayor added that talks with Iraqi officials have centred on constructing subway lines, restoration of monuments, developing green areas, managing waste, and exchanging Iran’s expertise and experiences in urban and public transportation.

Tehran's Mayor 'Pirouz Hanachi' officially invited Baghdad Mayor Zekra Alwach to visit Tehran and said: "MoU and initiatives will be discussed more precisely by forming a joint cooperation committee during Alwach's trip to Tehran after the holy month of Ramadan."

Hanachi after a visit to the ancient site of Taq-e Kasra (also known as Ctesiphon), said Tehran Municipality and Iranian companies are ready to cooperate in restoration of this ancient historic site, as well as other sites of archaeological and historical importance.

Heading a delegation, Hanachi left Tehran for the Iraqi capital on Wednesday night upon the invitation of Baghdad Mayor Zekra Alwach to discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties.

Earlier, addressing a meeting with Head of the 'National Wisdom Movement of Iraq', Ammar al-Hakim, Hanachi elaborated on the capabilities of Tehran Municipality and its affiliated companies in helping carry out major urban projects in Baghdad.
