Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said that his country's relations with Republic of Azerbaijan are in the interest of the region and the world.

Rouhani who arrived in Baku on Wednesday for an official visit to the Caspian Sea neighboring country, took part in a joint economic forum on Thursday.

He was heading a high-ranking economic and political delegation in the visit to Azerbaijan.

Referring the eight agreements signed between the two countries on Wednesday, Rouhani said at the forum that he and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev have made firm, historical decisions, the meaning of which will be much clearer in coming years.

'The day that consignments will be loaded from ships in Bandar Abbas, Imam Khomeini Port or Chabahar in Iran onto the freight wagons, and the train reaches Astara from the south waters, then it continues its way through Georgia, Russia, Turkey and Northern and Eastern Europe, the importance of today's decision will be much clearer, and its impact on the two countries' relations will be more visible,' he said.

Iran and Azerbaijan are enjoying big cooperation capacities in terms of energy, and the investors from the two countries can be more active in this regard, he said.

President Rouhani also referred to pharmaceutical industry, healthcare, and agriculture as other fields that Iran and Azerbaijan can cooperate.
