Iran and Turkey officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on border security.

Iran PressIran news: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Iran’s Macu Province on Tuesday between The commander of Iranian border guard command in the northwestern governorate of Maku, Colonel Shirzad Hajizadeh, and Turkey’s Van Province Governor Mehmet Emin Bilmez.

In the meeting with the Turkish official, Hajizadeh said: "Both countries’ border guards will do everything to maintain the peace and security and fight against trafficking across borders." 

Bilmez, for his part, said that the bilateral agreements and contracts have a major effect on improving the security of Iran-Turkey borders.

Maku in Western Azarbaijan Province shares 130 km of Iranian borders with Turkey and there are more than 500 kilometers of joint borders between the two countries.
