Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nation, criticising the U.S conduct to other states said, the word needs to be ruled by law.

Iran Press/Iran News- Addressing a session of united nations security council, Gholamali Khoshroo, permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations said,The U.S, not only disobeys the resolution 2231 of united nations security council, but also forces other states to violate this resolution obviously or they face punishment.

In an unprecedented measure, the US is punishing countries for abiding by a Security Council resolution, Khoshroo earlier on Aug 8, 2018  mentioned.

Also, in a commentary published by the Guardian,  Khoshroo stressed that by ditching the nuclear deal with Iran and sanctioning countries engaged in business transactions with the country, the US is violating UNSC Resolution 2231.

Khoshroo  added on Wednesday, referring to the U.S. aggression as a permanent member of the security council in Iraq at the beginning of this century, regardless of the role of the security council, said that it was a clear violation of the UN Charter, IRNA reported.

Iran's envoy to the United Nations added that if such measures are not  going to be prevented, the credibility of this organization and the Security Council would be further undermined, and with the weakening of the rule of law, the world would go to chaos.

Khoshroo, stressed, mediation as an essential tool in the settlement of disputes, should be seen in the larger context of promoting the rule of law at the international level.

He stressed Unfortunately, the Security Council has repeatedly and radically exercised its powers under the seventh chapter of the Charter, which has violated the sovereignty of states as well as human rights.

Khoshroo urged the United Nations to "restrict the use of the council in Chapter VII of the Charter".
Iran's envoy to the United Nations also emphasized the need for independence, impartiality and mediation, and praised the role of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in mediation.
