Tehran(IP)- The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia said that our late president was very sensitive to the border issues related to Armenia, and these sensitivities and care should still be taken into account.

Iran Press/Iran News: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in a meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution before noon today expressed sympathy of the Armenian nation and government on the martyrdom of late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in his companion in a copter crash.

In the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei, while appreciating the sympathy expressed by the Prime Minister of Armenia, pointed out the historical and geographical commonalities and common interests of Iran and Armenia and said: "The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to expand relations with Armenia will continue under Mr. Mokhber."

Referring to the emphasis of the Prime Minister of Armenia on the strategic nature of the relations between the two countries, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: "My emphasis on the expansion of cooperation indicates the strategic nature of the relations, but the important thing is that the relations between Iran and Armenia have opponents, and on this basis, issues related to two countries should be done with care."

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out: "Our late president was very sensitive to the border issues related to Armenia and the events surrounding this issue, and these sensitivities and care should still be taken into account, and we should be able to secure our interests."

Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, also said in the meeting: "We were shocked to hear the news of the death of the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran and his companions in an air crash, but as you said, we are sure that under your guidance and leadership, there will be no disruption in Iran's affairs."

President Raisi was returning from a ceremony to open a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan on Sunday when his helicopter crashed in Varzaqan, northwestern Iran, on Sunday.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and some senior provincial officials were also on board the helicopter and were all martyred.
