Iran Press/Iran News: Following the martyrdom of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and his companions, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani, before noon today in a meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, on behalf of the government and nation of this country, conveyed expressed condolences to Ayatollah Khamenei and the nation of Iran.
Addressing the Leader of the Islamic revolution, Sudani said in this meeting: "I came to meet you in these impressive circumstances to express the sadness, grief, and condolences of the government and nation of Iraq to the government and nation of Iran. What we saw from Mr. Raisi, the martyred president of Iran, was nothing but honesty, sincerity, purity, hard work and service to the people."
The Prime Minister of Iraq also pointed to the presence of millions of people at the funeral procession of the martyred president of Iran and said: "The images I saw on television today had clear messages, the most important message of which is the depth of the strong relationship between the people and the authorities in the Islamic Republic, despite all the pressures and sanctions and this unfortunate incident."
Sudani emphasized: "Another message of the presence of millions of people in the funeral procession is that we should serve the people and this magnificent funeral procession is the result of serving the people and this lesson should be our main priority in Iraq. "
In the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei, appreciating the Iraqi Prime Minister's visit to Tehran to express his condolences, said: "We have lost an outstanding personality. Mr. President was a very good brother and an efficient, competent, sincere, and serious official."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: "Now Mr. Mokhbar has assumed a heavy responsibility based on the constitution, and God willing, the same path of cooperation and agreements with the Iraqi government will continue."
President Raisi was returning from a ceremony to open a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan on Sunday when his helicopter crashed in Varzaqan, northwestern Iran, on Sunday.
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and some senior provincial officials were also on board the helicopter who were all martyred.
