Iranian Foreign Minister said, his country would not give in to force and surrender to the US.

Iran PressIran news: Addressing the annual International Mediterranean Dialogues Conference (IMED) late on Thursday, Mohammad Javad Zarif  added, “Iran has endured not for 40 years but for 7,000 years."

"History of the Iranian and Italian emperors is older than certain claimant countries and that’s for the same reason we will not surrender to force, as we know no power is permanent.” Zarif said, according to Iran Press.

Zarif added, "Why should Iran change its regional policies? Did we support Saddam? Did we support Daesh, Taliban and Al-Nusra Front? Did we create September 11? Did we impose blockade on Qatar? Did we bomb Yemen people? Did we commit mistakes or others? That’s them who have to change their regional policies and behaviors."

“We held talks with the US alongside other countries and achieved good results,” he said, noting that now the EU and others should spend for global security.

“All know me as advocate of interaction and dialogue. But if I am left with Iran’s independence and interaction, I will surely opt for Iran’s independence,” he said.

He also in a speech at Joint meeting of Italy-Iran Chamber of Commerce and Italian Industries Confederation  added, “One of the goals of the JCPOA was to normalize economic and trade ties with Iran, but this has faced bullying of US President Donald Trump.”

In Italy, Zarif talked about the latest developments on JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action)  as well as Europe's Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to secure the nuclear deal specially after America's withdrawal.

"US has not only breached JCPOA but also the United Nations Security Council resolution 2231. It also encouraged other nations to violate it as well as threatening the countries which have respected the resolution," emphasised Zarif.

United Nations security council resolution 2231 was a resolution endorsing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the nuclear program of Iran. It sets out an inspection process and schedule while also preparing for the removal of United Nations sanctions against Iran.

“If the Americans do not like or cannot take advantage of commercial and economic opportunities in Iran, what right they can have to create obstacles in the way of other countries’ engagement with Iran,” he said.

The Iranian and Italian companies should take advantage of the two countries’ huge trade and economic opportunities, Zarif said.

“There are numerous ways for cooperation between the two countries and we are currently engaged in doing them,” he said.

Highlighting significant role of Iranian people as the mainstay of the country, the top diplomat said that as soon as the Iranian nation feel the other parties to JCPOA cannot secure Iran’s benefits from the deal, it will opt for different approaches.

Zarif arrived in Rome late Wednesday to take part in the annual International Mediterranean Dialogues Conference (IMED). 101/202
