Iran Press/Europe- Iran will seek to avert the potential humanitarian catastrophe in Syria’s idlib province, Hossein Jaberi Ansari,special assistant to Iran’s foreign minister told reporters on Tuesday.
The senior Iranian diplomat and special assistant to foreign minister, Hossein Jaberi Ansari arrived in Geneva Switzerland on Monday afternoon, for U.N. talks about setting up a Syrian constitutional committee.
The talks are hosted by U.N. envoy Staffan de Mistura and also includes senior Russian and Turkish officials.
Recently, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov emphasised that only the Syrian people can decide the future of their country, stressing the fact that the US behaviour towards Idlib indicates that it wants to protect Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist outfit.
Hundreds of terrorists and their families were recently evacuated from southern Syria and lodged in the northwest of the country, in Idlib province.

Jaberi Ansari is expected to participate in bilateral and multilateral meetings with Alexander Lavrentiev and sedat önal, senior Russian and Turkish negotiators in the Syrian peace process (Astana) as well as"Staffan de Mistura "Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Syrian affairs to discuss and draw up ways to facilitate commencement of the Syrian Constitution Committee.
Iran, alongside Russia and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria.
The three guarantor states initiated the Astana Process on January 23, 2017, establishing de-escalation zones in an effort to restore calm in the region and improve the humanitarian situation in war-torn Syria.
Last Friday,Russian President Vladimir Putin along with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended in a trilateral meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran to track the political process of the Syrian crisis, on the eve of the liberation of idlib as one of the last areas under the control of terrorists in Syria.
The first of the trilateral summits was held last year in Russia's Black Sea city Sochi on Nov. 22.
The second trilateral summit held in Istanbul and the second one was hosted by Erdogan in April in the Turkish capital Ankara.
