Iran-Azerbaijan talks to sign preferential trade agreement begin

Tehran (IP) - The first round of talks on the text of the Preferential Trade Agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held today via video conferencing.

Iran PressIran news: The first round of talks on the text of the Preferential Trade Agreement between the two countries of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on Tuesday, via video conferencing. 

Representatives of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries and the economic expert of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku also attended the round of talks conducted by representatives of the Trade Development Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran and various departments of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In line with the high determination of the political leaders of the two countries to develop and deepen bilateral economic relations, the initial negotiations went very well and the two sides agreed on the proposed text of the Islamic Republic of Iran and some considerations of the Azeri side.

The next and final round of talks will be held at a higher level with the aim of finalizing the text and preparing it for the signatures of the ministers of the two countries in the near future.  

An agreement to sign a Preferential Trade Agreement and negotiation between the two countries was reached on the sidelines of the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Baku last year to attend the Non-Aligned Movement summit.
