Larijani meets Iraqi parliament second deputy speaker in Tehran

Iran's parliament speaker said in his meeting with Iraqi parliament second deputy speaker in Tehran that US meddling in the region is the main source of the problem.

According to Iran Press, in the meeting Ali Larijani said that "at the beginning, many in the region did not cooperate with Iraq because they believed that the new Iraq is an American puppet and consequently, hired Baathists to act against you, contrarily, Iran believed that new Iraq can achieve democracy in post Saddam era and we supported your country."

Iran's head of parliament added that "Iran was not indifferent about ISIS incursion to Iraq and we responded positively when Iraq's officials asked for our help to encounter their threat".

"Four thousand Iranian martyred combating drug trafficking, while production of opium in Afghanistan has increased fifty-fold since US invasion and occupation in 2001. Four hundred labs are active in Afghanistan to produce drug but US has not taken any measure to address the issue because they are making profit out of it," Larijani noted.

Larijani also stressed on the importance of expansion of economic relations between the two countries. 212/ 104
