Iran Press/ Europe: Regarding the production of silicide fuel, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to Vienna-based international organizations, stated that artificial concerns about Iran's production of small quantities of uranium by some parties to JCPOA are unacceptable.
"The Islamic Republic, especially where it has the relevant technical knowledge, will proceed based on technical needs and would not procrastinate its progress for the sake of others," He underlined.
Noting that Tehran reactor's fuel is ordinary fuel with up to 20% enrichment, he explained that by upgrading this fuel through the production of silicide fuel with a richness of up to 20%, the quantity and quality of radiopharmaceuticals produced would improve significantly.
He pointed out that Iran had announced that its nuclear program would no longer face any operational limitations and would be based solely on its technical needs in the fifth step of reducing nuclear obligations.
He added that even in the case of the implementation of the JCPOA, Iran could supply this fuel from its owners worldwide if needed.
Gharibabadi underlined that in the recent talks on the revival of the JCPOA, Iran had raised a request to guarantee to receive silicide fuel. Still, none of the fuel-producing countries were willing to offer a definitive guarantee.
