Iran Press/ Iran News: Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Farhat Sadiqov, who is in Tehran to attend a meeting of ECO Deputy Foreign Ministers, met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari on Sunday evening.
In this meeting, the latest status of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade and transportation was discussed.
During the meeting, the Uzbek side emphasized its interest in using Iran's transit routes, especially the suitable capacities of Chabahar port, and it was decided that the work of specialized groups in this regard would be activated.
Referring to the Iranian President's upcoming visit to Uzbekistan to attend the Shanghai Summit and a formal bilateral meeting with his Uzbek counterpart, the Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister called the visit an important historical event in the relations between the two countries.
Mehdi Safari, while pointing to the growing trend of interactions between the two countries in the last two or three years, announced the readiness of the Iranian side to cooperate with Uzbekistan in all existing fields and called for more efforts to increase trade between the two countries.
In this regard, it was decided that the parties provide the necessary facilities for holding special exhibitions.
