Why it matters:
Ayatollah Khamenei’s remarks come months after Iran’s decisive response to the joint Israeli–US attack in June, which forced the aggressors into accepting a ceasefire. The Leader said Western powers have since intensified their propaganda warfare after failing in their military confrontation.
The big picture:
The Leader warned that Iran is now at the center of an extensive media and psychological battle orchestrated by the U.S., certain European governments, and their “domestic mercenaries” abroad.
He said the enemy’s broader goal is to erase the values and identity of the Islamic Revolution after decades of failed attempts to weaken the Iranian nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the concept of resistance — born in Iran — has now spread across the region and beyond, frustrating the designs of global powers.
What he’s saying:
Ayatollah Khamenei told thousands of participants gathered in Tehran for the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (SA):
“The shortages and problems across the country are many, but the nation, with perseverance and sincerity, creates honor for Islam and Iran. By God’s grace, the country is moving, striving, and advancing.”
“Today we are in the middle of a wide propaganda and media war. The enemy has realized that this land and this spiritual homeland cannot be subdued or occupied through military pressure.”
“Some deliberately amplify the possibility of another military confrontation to make people anxious. They will not succeed.”
“The line and goal of the enemy is to eliminate the concepts and foundations of the Islamic Revolution. The U.S. is at the center of this front, with Europeans around it and traitors living abroad assisting them.”
“Just as on the military front, in the media front too we must align our defense and offense with the enemy’s targeted points — Islamic, Shia, and revolutionary teachings.”
Key points:
- The Leader said Iran’s resilience has prevented the enemy from transforming the nation’s religious, cultural, and historical identity.
- He described national resistance as steadfastness in the face of military, economic, cultural, political, and media pressures.
- Ayatollah Khamenei recalled that for more than a century foreign powers have sought to reshape Iran’s identity, but the Islamic Revolution nullified those efforts.
- He praised the Iranian people for foiling attempts at destabilization that, had they been applied to any other country, “would have finished it.”
Go deeper:
Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemy’s propaganda aims include territorial expansion, resource control, changing lifestyles, and imposing identity transformation — policies the U.S. continues globally, including in Latin America.
The Leader urged vigilance, unity, and sustained resistance, saying Iran’s forward movement depends on countering both military and media aggression.
He emphasized that Iran’s spiritual, cultural, and political identity remains intact despite the most intense pressure campaigns of recent decades.
