The big picture:
Hamas said Israel is responsible for the ongoing humanitarian disaster and accused the international community of silence and inaction. The group called for urgent steps to lift the blockade, facilitate the entry of housing supplies, and start real reconstruction.
What they’re saying:
Hazem Qassem, Hamas spokesperson, stressed that repeated collapses of homes destroyed during Israel’s recent offensive reveal “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
“The deaths of citizens due to flooded tents, severe cold and collapsing houses show that the genocidal war continues, even if its tools have changed,” Qassem said.
He urged immediate action to halt the deadly trend, begin reconstruction, and provide proper shelter for Gaza’s residents.
Qassem criticized the poor quality of emergency aid, noting that tents fail to meet basic needs and cannot withstand winter rains and cold.
