Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization says the country will continue advancing in six key fields, fission, fusion, lasers, quantum technologies, and plasma, despite military, political, and psychological pressures.

Why it matters:

Iran’s stance is clear; Tehran will not stop its peaceful nuclear activities, aiming at improving science, technology, and medicine.

Driving the news:

The event featured the unveiling of two advanced devices; one designed for plasma-based drug synthesis and clinical trials, and the other belongs to a new generation of plasma wound-healing jets.

The big picture:

While Iran's peaceful nuclear activities have been under the close supervision of the IAEA, the U.S. conducted a military attack on Iran's nuclear sites on 22 June 2025, to end Iran's nuclear industry. Yet, the Iranian nation is determined to keep progress in nuclear science along with other fields of science.

Zoom in:

Preclinical plasma-medicine studies, clinical applications, new technologies, biomaterials and tissue engineering, engineering and device design and simulation, and plasma-activated environments were among the specialized topics of the congress, all aimed at meeting the country’s scientific and medical needs.

What he’s saying:

Mohammad Eslami: "Iran will push forward in all strategic technology areas without interruption."

"Neither have war, bombings, political and psychological pressure altered Iran’s trajectory — nor will they."

"The core dispute is not ideological but about the frontier of knowledge and Iran’s place in advanced technologies."

"The U.S. National Security Strategy is evidence of Washington’s shift away from multilateral mechanisms; the U.S. now pursues its interests by force."

“We cannot claim progress by merely purchasing technology. We cannot remain mere buyers of technology; we must become its creators, especially when it comes to emerging and cutting-edge technologies that our society needs, that are essential for national advancement, and that suits the dignity of the Iranian nation.”
