The United States and the United Kingdom announced the attack on more than 12 places in Yemen on Friday morning.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Air strikes hit several cities in Yemen, where the Ansarallah control a swathe of territory, a Yemeni source and witnesses said.

The strikes involved fighter jets and Tomahawk missiles, several US media said. US officials did not immediately confirm the reports.

Later, US president Joe Biden said: "Today, at my direction, US military forces together with the United Kingdom and with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands conducted strikes against several targets in Yemen used by Ansarallah."

After the American and British attacks, international sources reported that Yemeni Ansarallah forces launched ballistic missiles towards positions in the Red Sea.

An Ansarallah official told Al Jazeera that the forces of this movement are responding to the American and British attacks in the Red Sea.

Earlier, Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, the Leader of Yemen’s Ansarallah, reacted to the approval of a US-pushed resolution against Ansarallah in the UN Security Council and said that the group will continue its attacks against the Zionist-linked vessels.

In response to the bombing of Yemen by the American and British military coalition, the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement in which it expressed its concern about the developments in the Red Sea.

So far, according to Yemeni sources these attacks have left 5 killed.
