Thousands of people of Tehran converged in a mass funeral procession held for the late commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Abbas Nilforoushan, who was martyred in the Israeli strike on Beirut.

Iran PressIran news: Military and state officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, senior IRGC commanders, and people from all walks of life attended the ceremony held in Imam Hussain Square in Tehran on Tuesday morning.

Mourners in mass laid flowers as they held pictures of the resistance commanders and leaders assassinated by Israel.
The participants also chanted “Down with USA”, “Down with Israel” and “We will Resist till the End” waving flags of Iran, Palestine, and resistance movements.

A mass funeral procession was held a day earlier at the holy shrines in Karbala and Najaf in Iraq before the body of the late IRGC commander was carried to Iran.

Another farewell ceremony has been scheduled to be held in Isfahan on Wednesday before the body is laid to rest on Thursday.

Iranian military advisor and an IRGC commander, Majer General Abbas Nilforoushan was assassinated along with the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli strike targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut late in September.
