Iran Press/Iran news: Head of the Iraqi-Iranian Chamber of Commerce Fadel al-Hamdani, told Al-Monitor: “Trade between Iraq and Iran is still ongoing and has not been affected by US sanctions imposed on Tehran given the ongoing negotiations between Iraq and the United States.”
Head of the Iraqi-Iranian Chamber of Commerce added: “Financial transactions are ongoing, following normal procedures, and it is traders who are behind the changes that may have affected such transactions. If the Iraqi government makes any decisions related to trade with Iran, then the Iraqi private sector will abide by such official decisions.”
Iran asked Iraq not to abide by US sanctions, and continue trade using the Iraqi dinar.
In another blow to US control over Iraq, the country’s foreign minister warned that Baghdad would ignore US sanctions on Iran. Speaking to journalists on Jan 03, Iraqi foreign minister Mohammad Ali al-Hakim said that his country is not committed to implementing America's unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Also, the head of Iraq's Supreme Islamic Council Hamam al-Hamoudi, has recently stressed that Iraq will not take part in any way in the unfair and illegal US sanctions against Iran.
Trade exchanges between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq amounts to $12 billion a year.
