Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Iran's Minister of Energy Abbas Aliabadi said that the 2,300 MW milestone shows Iran’s commitment to clean energy and sustainability.
“Our objective isn’t just to reduce electricity consumption, but to promote efficient and responsible energy use to drive national development and public welfare,” he said.
While highlighting the environmental benefits of renewable energy, the minister cautioned that solar projects still carry ecological impacts.
“Renewables are environmentally friendly, but not impact-free. That’s why optimal planning and consumption are essential to minimizing environmental harm. Preserving the environment remains one of our top priorities,” he added.
Focus on Energy Storage
Aliabadi also emphasized the importance of energy storage, particularly during peak demand hours. He noted that around 12,500 hydroelectric facilities are currently contributing to energy storage capacity.
He further called for the expansion and modernization of electricity transmission networks, noting: “As provinces invest in infrastructure development, they will face fewer constraints and be better positioned to benefit from energy sector growth.”
Reviewing achievements called "Abad Iran campaign", the minister said that since the initiative’s launch, 185 projects valued at more than 1.05 quadrillion rials have been inaugurated, while the work has begun on 26 new projects worth 235.6 trillion rials.
