The head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq, Hamam al-Hamoudi, has emphasized that Iraq will not take part in any way in the unfair and illegal US sanctions against Iran, stressing that the Iraqi people will never forget Iran's assistance and support during the difficult days of fighting Daesh terrorists.

Iran Press/Middle East: According to an Iran Press report, Hamam al-Hamoudi emphasized that Iraq will never side with Iran's enemies, and that Iraq will do everything it can to ensure the failure of America's unfair and illegal sanctions against Iran.

In further remarks, the head of Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq emphasized that Baghdad will never allow anyone to cause a rift between the two brotherly nations of Iran and Iraq.

Referring to the deep and friendly ties and the cultural and historic bonds between Iraq and Iran, Hamam al-Hamoudi emphasized that Iran has stood by Iraq through thick and thin.

Commenting on Syria, al-Hamoudi said: "We have reliable information that the Americans are trying to re-introduce Daesh terrorists in Iraq, now that the terror group has been defeated in Syria and has to leave the country. The Iraqi armed forces, and particularly the popular mobilization units (known as Hashd al-Sha'bi) will never allow the Americans to bring back Daesh terrorists into this country."

Earlier, the Iraqi prime minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi had also emphasized that 'Iraq will not be part of unfair US sanctions against Iran'. Adel Abdul Mahdi said Iraq was opposed to 'unilateral US sanctions against Iran'. 211/103
