Iran Press/Iran news: The award ceremony for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic medalists was held with the presence of Iranian President Ebrahim Reisi, and the Minister of Sports and Youth Hamid Sajjadi, as well as sports champions, and veterans.
According to Iran Press News Agency, the performance of Pahlevani and zoorkhaneh rituals and martial arts were part of the ceremony.
President Ebrahim Raisi also watched the final stage of Pahlavani wrestling and fasten the armband around the arms of this year's Iran's Pahlavan Bashi.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recognized Pahlavani wrestling as among the world's longest-running forms of sport.
Pahlevan of Iran is an annual Pahlevani Wrestling competition held in Iran, in which athletes from across the country compete. The champion earns the title of Pahlevan and the right to wear the Bazouband.
Though the competition has ancient roots, its modern form has been held only since 1944.
