Birjand(IP) - Iran's President said that some people tried Ashura to remain in Ashura day, but it was passed down through the ages and generations.

Iran PressIran news:  Arbaeen, or the 40 days after Ashura is the commemoration of the martyrdom of the Prophet Mohammed’s grandson Hussain, who was martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.

Ebrahim Raisi said on Wednesday at the Arbaeen Day rituals at Birjand, the capital of South Khorasan Province, East of Iran,  "The gathering is in the name and memory of Imam Hussian and everyone is here to offer condolences to Imam Mahdi (AS) and to offer condolences and pay our respects, and we have gathered to announce our covenant and love for Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions."

He went on to say that the formation of a 20-million-man gathering across the country, between Najaf and Karbala and in Karbala, is a manifestation of their love and affection for Imam Hussain (as).

The president said: "All of us in this great gathering around the world want to announce that if we were not in Ashura and in Karbala, and Imam Hussian's enemies killed his 6-month-old child, and companions, and we were not there to help him, but we heard the plea and today we are shouting " Labbaik ya Hussain " from here.

Raisi added: "Imam Hussain (as) and his companions were martyred so that the name and memory of Imam and Ashura did not remain, but it was God's will that Ashura, instead of being the end, was the beginning, and instead of Ashura remaining in Ashura, it was passed down through the ages and generations."
