Doha (IP) – Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, underscored the importance of increasing collaboration with Islamic nations, particularly Saudi Arabia.

Iran Press/West Asia: During a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan on the sidelines of his two-day visit to Qatar, Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the growing relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing Iran's desire to expand cooperation in all fields.

"We consider Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, as our brothers. It is essential that we set aside differences and work together with greater synergy and harmony," said Pezeshkian. He noted that the spirit of unity and brotherhood among Muslims was key to the spread of Islam across the world.

The meeting came amid the backdrop of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Lebanon, triggered by the aggressive actions of the Israeli regime. President Pezeshkian highlighted these events as some of the most pressing issues facing the Islamic world. Referring to Iran's recent attack targeting the military and security objectives of Israel, he reiterated that Iran does not seek to escalate tensions in the region. He clarified that the decisive operations were a legitimate response to Israel's continued crimes, which persisted even after promises of a ceasefire in Gaza.

"The people of Gaza and Lebanon, who are enduring the savage attacks of the Israeli regime, are our brothers and sisters. We cannot remain indifferent to their suffering and displacement," Pezeshkian stated. He warned that Israel's audacity to commit such atrocities stemmed from the disunity and indifference among Islamic nations. "If we do not unite against this aggression, today it will be Gaza and Lebanon, and tomorrow it will be other cities and Islamic nations."

President Pezeshkian also highlighted Saudi Arabia's critical role as one of the major Islamic countries, urging the kingdom to leverage its influence with Western nations to help halt Israel's atrocities.

In response, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan conveyed warm greetings from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and reiterated Riyadh's commitment to strengthening relations with Iran. "We are determined to close the chapter of disagreements between our two countries and, like two friends and brothers, focus on resolving issues and expanding our relationship," bin Farhan remarked.

The Saudi Foreign Minister also acknowledged the sensitive and critical situation in the region due to Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon. He emphasized Saudi Arabia's confidence in Iran's wisdom and its role in helping to bring about peace and stability in the region.
