Iran Press/America: Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian sat down with CNN's Fareed Zakaria to discuss the latest escalations between Hezbollah and Israel.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that the international community "must not allow Lebanon to become another Gaza" after Israel carried out its deadliest day of air strikes there since 2006.
"We must not allow Lebanon to become another Gaza at the hands of the Israeli regime."
Israel's extensive strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon are "a human and humanitarian crisis" that risks tipping the region into a wider conflict, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian told Fareed Zakaria in an exclusive interview.
The danger exists that the events in Lebanon may spread to the entire region," Pezeshkian warned.
When asked whether Iran will counsel Hezbollah to restrain itself in its response to Israeli strikes, Pezeshkian said, "Hezbollah is facing a country armed to the teeth and has access to weapons systems that are far superior to anything else."
Iran's President went on to say: "We must not allow Lebanon to become another Gaza at the hands of Israel," he warned. Pezeshkian continued, "Hezbollah cannot stand alone against a regime that is being defended and supported and supplied by Western countries, European countries, and the United States of America."
Pezeshkian cautioned that the situation could escalate into a regional conflict, posing a danger to the future of the world and planet Earth itself. Therefore, efforts must be made to prevent Israel's ongoing criminal acts.
This interview was held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
